Three Winter Activities Other Than Skiing to Do While in Zermatt

Zermatt SwitzerlandZermatt Switzerland is one of the most loved ski destinations in the world, and the world-class skiing brings in thousands of tourists every year, but skiing isn’t the only winter activity you have the opportunity of enjoying when you are visiting Zermatt.  Many people who don’t ski don’t even consider visiting Zermatt because they don’t realize that there is so much more to do.  But if they realized that skiing is not the only reason to visit the home of the Matterhorn then they would be much more likely to change their minds.  There are three other winter activities that many visitors find that they enjoy.

  1. Snowshoeing – Snowshoeing is an outdoor winter activity that is ideal for almost anyone because you can choose the skill level by simply choosing the right trail, and there are plenty of snowshoeing trails to choose from.  If you’re vacationing in Zermatt with your family you can hike easier trails, but if you are without kids and you’re looking for a little adventure and a bit of a challenge you can hike more difficult trails.  One thing is for sure, and that is that you will love snowshoeing in Zermatt.
  2. Tobogganing – Most kids love sledding so tobogganing is a great activity to enjoy if you have children with you, but it is still fun even if you don’t.  There are a number of exciting paths do sled down, and the views along the way are spectacular.  You can rent toboggans right in Zermatt so you don’t even have to worry about having equipment with you.  A tobogganing journey will certainly be fun for the whole family, and an exciting way to spend some of your time in Zermatt Switzerland.
  3. Ice Skating – You can ice skate pretty much anywhere that has a winter, but the experience will be nothing like what you will experience ice skating in Zermatt.  You can ice skate in the middle of the breathtaking small town, so the sights are like none other you will find when you ice skate anywhere else.  And you don’t have to bring your own ice skates either, which is another added bonus.

If you know how to ski you definitely want to do a little of that while you are in Zermatt Switzerland, but these activities will make your Zermatt adventure even more exciting.
